A Road Trip by the Sea

From sandy beaches to coastal rainforest, brewery tours to artist studios, kayaks to mountain bikes -

the Sunshine Coast is the perfect escape from the city.

Embark on a self-guided trip in the comfort of your own vehicle, and let us take care of the planning.

Highlights of the Region

  • Unwind and embrace the coastal lifestyle as you make your way from Gibsons to Egmont, through the friendly communities and scenic lookouts along the way.

  • Join local guides on a boat tour through glacial carved fjords, past Malibu Rapids and into Princess Louisa Inlet to explore the iconic Chatterbox Falls.

  • Hike through dense rainforest to the turbulent rapids of Skookumchuck narrows, famous for their spectacular whirlpools where you'll likely catch a glimpse of extreme kayakers riding the waves.

  • Spend an afternoon strolling the charming seaside town of Gibsons, visiting the many eclectic shops, art galleries, restaurants and cafes, with the backdrop of the Howe Sound and coast mountains in the distance.

  • Join a guided tour of the local artist studios. With over 1000 studios in the region, the Sunshine Coast boasts the highest percentage of working artists in Canada.

  • Relax in style at locally-owned Bed & Breakfasts, from waterfront cabins to a forest retreat. Some accommodations offer massages, yoga, and evening campfires by the sea.

  • Embark on a float plane tour of the coast, with the option to fly-and-dine or journey to nearby alpine lakes.

  • Spend the day fishing, hiking, mountain biking, or simply relaxing on the sandy beaches along the coast and nearby islands.

  • Experience sea kayaking at night, a joy for the senses, with the chance to witness bioluminescence - living organisms in the water that create a dance of light as you paddle through the darkness.

  • Enjoy an evening of waterfront dining featuring fresh local seafood and west coast cuisine, or pull up a seat at one of the many local breweries in Sechelt and Gibsons.
