TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

  • Unwind and embrace the coastal lifestyle at your own pace - with a mix of guided tours and free days to enjoy as you wish.

  • Join local guides on a boat tour through glacial carved fjords, past Malibu Rapids and into Princess Louisa Inlet to explore the iconic Chatterbox Falls.

  • Hike through dense rainforest to the turbulent rapids of Skookumchuk Narrows, famous for their spectacular whirlpools where you'll likely catch a glimpse of extreme kayakers riding the waves.

  • Relax on the many sandy beaches along the coast, or try your hand at stand-up paddle boardingmountain biking, or fishing.

  • Experience sea kayaking at night, a joy for the senses, with the chance to witness bioluminescence - living organisms in the water that create a dance of light as you paddle through the darkness.

  • Spend an afternoon strolling the charming seaside towns of Sechelt and Gibsons, visiting the many eclectic shops, art galleries, restaurants and cafes.

  • Join an optional cultural tour led by local guides, with a focus on indigenous culture and history or the local art scene on the coast.

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

The following itinerary is meant as a guide, and is subject to change. Factors such as weather, availability, and closures due to COVID-19 may impact certain activities. Contact us for more details.

DAY 1: Take the scenic ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to Langdale (Sunshine Coast) (~40 minutes) | Lunch in Gibsons and time to explore the town | Check in to Roberts Creek accommodation | Welcome treat provided | Sunset on the beach. Accommodation: Bed & Breakfast | Meals included: Dinner.

DAY 2: Free day to explore Roberts Creek, Sechelt, and Gibsons at your leisure | Relax on the beach, hike nearby trails, or rent kayaks | On-site spa services | Optional guided art gallery or indigenous cultural tour | Breweries and waterfront dining | Overnight in Roberts Creek. Accommodation: Bed & Breakfast | Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 3: Relaxing morning by the beach | Leisurely drive north along the coast | Lunch and explore in Sechelt | Hike to Smuggler Cove Marine Park | Visit Madeira Park and Pender Harbour | Optional evening kayak tour in Egmont | Overnight in Egmont or Ruby Lake. Accommodation: Cabin/Safari Tent | Meals included: Breakfast. 

DAY 4: Guided boat tour to Princess Louisa Inlet and the iconic Chatterbox Falls | Optional hike to Skookumchuck Narrows or kayak on Ruby lake | Fine dining by the water | Overnight in Egmont or Ruby LakeAccommodation: Cabin/Safari Tent | Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 5:  Leisurely morning to relax by the lake | Lunch in Madeira Park or Sechelt | Free time around Gibsons | Ferry back to Vancouver (enquire about options to extend your trip). Meals included: Breakfast.

Note: September trip is done in reverse order.

 

An activity credit of $100 is included in the listed price to be applied to optional activities of your choice. The Sunshine Coast offers an incredible range of tours and self-guided activities - contact us for details.

This trip is designed for...

Adults (age 19+) with interests in outdoor adventure and sightseeing. Basic mobility and moderate fitness level is recommended. Guided tours require comfort around water, paddling a kayak for 1-2 hours, and spending full or partial days outdoors in potentially inclement weather. All other activities are optional and can be tailored to personal preference and ability.

All accommodation for four nights, including two nights at a Bed & Breakfast and two nights at a cabin/safari tent resort.

All breakfasts (Days 2-5), and one dinner.

Guided tours including boat tour to Princess Louisa Inlet and Chatterbox Falls, evening bioluminescence kayak tour, and indigenous cultural walking or kayak tour.

$100 activity credit per person to use towards additional tours, equipment rentals (i.e. mountain bikes, kayaks, etc.), spa services, or dining.

Round trip ferry reservation for two adults and one vehicle.

Not Included:

  • Lunches, and three dinners

  • Vehicle rental and fuel

  • Flights to/from and within British Columbia

  • Travel insurance

  • Gratuities

  • Personal expenses such as alcoholic beverages, medications, snacks, and souvenirs

 
 

GETTING THERE

This is a self-guided trip and requires use of your own vehicle. If travelling via air into BC, we recommend renting a car from the airport.

 

The trip itinerary begins on Day 1 at Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal in West Vancouver (about an hours drive from Vancouver International Airport), where you will be booked on a late-morning car ferry to Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast (40 minute ride).

The trip ends on Day 5 with a ferry ride back to Horseshoe Bay at a time of your choice. The ferry can also be booked on an alternate day, if you wish to stay longer on the Sunshine Coast. Our team can provide suggestions for pre/post activities based on your preferences.
