From Gibsons to Egmont, kayak to floatplane, this self-guided road trip is the perfect introduction to the Sunshine Coast. Explore the region's expansive beaches, lush rainforest trails, and the eclectic culinary and arts scene along the way.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

  • Join local guides on a boat tour through glacial carved fjords, past Malibu Rapids and into Princess Louisa Inlet to explore the iconic Chatterbox Falls.

DAY 1: Take the scenic ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to Langdale (Sunshine Coast) (~40 minutes) | Lunch in Gibsons and time to explore the town | Afternoon hike | Check in to Roberts Creek accommodation | Welcome dinner provided | Sunset on the beach. Accommodation: Bed & Breakfast | Meals included: Dinner.

DAY 2: Sea kayaking tour in Sechelt Inlet or Halfmoon Bay (half-day) | Free afternoon to explore Roberts Creek, Sechelt, and Gibsons at your leisure | Relax on the beach, hike or bike, or join an art and cultural tour | On-site massage services available | Breweries and waterfront dining | Overnight in Roberts Creek. Accommodation: Bed & Breakfast | Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 3: Relaxing morning by the beach | Flight-seeing Tour over Sechelt Inlet and surrounding islands | Lunch and explore in Sechelt | Hike in Smuggler Cove Marine Park | Visit Madeira Park and Pender Harbour | Overnight in Madeira Park. Accommodation: Lodge | Meals included: Breakfast.

Adults (age 19+) with interests in outdoor adventure and sightseeing. Basic mobility and moderate fitness level is recommended. Guided day tours require comfort around water, small aircrafts, and spending full or partial days outdoors in potentially inclement weather. All other activities are optional and can be tailored to personal preference and ability.

GETTING THERE

This is a self-guided trip and requires use of your own vehicle. If travelling via air into BC, we recommend renting a car from the airport.

 

The trip itinerary begins on Day 1 at Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal in West Vancouver (about an hours drive from Vancouver International Airport), where you will be booked on a car ferry to Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast (40 minute ride).

The trip ends on Day 5 with a ferry ride back to Horseshoe Bay at a time of your choice. The ferry can also be booked on an alternate day, if you wish to stay longer on the Sunshine Coast. Our team can provide suggestions for pre/post activities based on your preferences.
